We reflect on Acts 14:19-28 and John 14:27-31.
Are we courageous or cowards?
In the first reading, we witness the courageous Paul who was stoned to death. St. Paul was stoned by the Jews and not allowed to preach. Number of stones were too many St. Paul got collapsed, dragged like a dead animal around the streets and thrown outside the city.
The mother of Eunice, named Lois and Timothy who looked for Paul along with some new converts. He got up and went straight back into Lystra and then to Derbe.
Christian witness needs faith and courage to walk for the Risen Lord even amidst a lot of oppositions and life threats.
Believing in Christ might cost our lives.
Taking a courageous stand for the Lord attracts many towards the Risen Lord.
But a certain amount of personal suffering and witness is required for our faith to penetrate the hearts of the others.
The Gospel promises Peace as the messianic gift.
“Peace, I leave with you; my peace I give to you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled, and do not let them be afraid.” (Jn. 14:27).
This kind of peace comes in the absence of fear and sin.
When we comply with the will of God, we are guaranteed of Peace of Christ.
Peace is the first gift of Jesus before He ascended to the Father.
This peace is indeed a positive gift, internal energy which provides a sense of security and conviction to follow God, and it is the expression and the sign of love of the Lord.
Jesus gives us peace when we open the doors of faith in our lives and to allow others to enter.
May we experience the peace of Christ in our hearts, homes, and homelands.
