It is 07th September 2015. The readings are from Col.1:24-2:3 and the Gospel from Lk. 6:6-11. The first reading brings out the need to suffer for Christ. Christ suffers with us whenever we are suffering on account of His message. False teachers and prophets do not like suffering and therefore not preaching about suffering. To be in Christ is also to share in His suffering and that is what St. Paul speaking today. We all become mature spiritually through our sufferings. We all have a share of suffering in spreading the message of Christ and doing good. “Now I rejoice in what was suffered for you, and I complete in my flesh what is still lacking in Christ’s afflictions for the sake of his body, the Church.”(Col.1:24). The responsorial Psalm prays, “In God is my safety and glory.” (Ps. 61:8). The Gospel shares the healing of a withered hand in a person. It was a Sabbath day and works are forbidden by law. Yet, Jesus did not hesitate to restore the beauty of God in that person. Jesus does not look for auspicious time to heal our sufferings and sickness. The world may have its doubts and reasons whether Jesus has to heal or not. Jesus has no reason other than to love us no matter how much withered our life is. No person or law can imprison the good deeds in good people. The world may get rid of you because you are good and it cannot remove the traces of good. Let us not hesitate to do good thinking who will say what? May the Lord grant you the courage to do good no matter what it takes. Have a good day.
