Come Holy Spirit, come and fill our beings.
It is 04th June 2017. We celebrate the Solemnity of the Pentecost Sunday. Come Holy Spirit, come. It is on this day, the Holy Spirit came on the disciples and rightly celebrating the birthday of church. Wishing you one and all a happy birthday as we are awaiting to receive the outpouring of the Spirit of God. we need to pray earnestly to ask the gifts of the Holy Spirit such as Wisdom, Understanding, Counsel, Fortitude, Knowledge, Piety, and Fear of the Lord. May the Lord fill our families and communities with the fruits of the Spirit such as Charity, Joy, Peace, Patience, Kindness, Goodness, Generosity, Gentleness, Faithfulness, Modestly, Self-control, and Chastity. The Spirit of God wishes to reside in us, sanctify us, strengthen us, guiding us, listening to us and fills us with the necessary gifts. The indwelling presence of the Holy Spirit provides us with the perfect love by which we will be judged. As we read in Rom.5:5, “The love of God has been poured into our hearts through the Spirit of God dwelling within us.” The readings are from Acts 2:1-11; the second reading is from 1Corinthians 12:3-7, 13-12; and the Gospel from John 20:19-23. The first reading explains elaborately how the Holy Spirit descended upon the believers to speak a language of love that is revealed in Jesus which made them to listen and understand the other languages. The responsorial Psalm implores, “Lord, send out your Spirit, and renew the face of the earth.” (Ps.104:30). In the second readings, St. Paul recommends that Holy Spirit is given to us to profess our faith in Jesus and to put in use the gifts for the welfare, benefits and growth of the Church. The Spirit of God is one but the gifts are many. Let not our gifts divide the church and community of believers rather to have the unity. We need to promote by all means to promote the unity of the spirit in the Church. Only with the power of the Holy Spirit we can ever profess Jesus as Lord. (1 Cor.12:3b). The Gospel demands the action after the receiving of the Holy Spirit in our lives. We need to become the instruments of peace wherever we may be. Jesus wants us to go every nook and corner of the world to spread His supreme love revealed in His life, death and resurrection, by promoting unity and peace. Let us comply with the gifts not always complain and compare about the fruits. It is time to respond and to renew our lives and of the others. Jesus breathed on them and said to them, “Receive the Holy Spirit.” (Jn.20:22). May you be filled with the Holy Spirit to spread His love.
