It is 6th June 2018. The readings are from 2 Timothy 1:1-3, 6-12; and the Gospel from Mark 12:18-27. Are we afraid to be truthful and to bear witness to the truth? Truth never hurts rather it heals. Knowing and believing that someone is there for us in our spiritual struggles is the truth we need to share and proclaim without fear. When we are not able to proclaim the truth publicly due to several reasons, we must not be tired encouraging and providing resources to proclaim the truth as St. Paul in the first reading. This is the farewell letter of St. Paul who faced death in the prison. It is not that easy to bear witness to the truth in such lonely, fearsome period when no one wanted to associate with Paul for fear of being punished or killed by the Roman king. Yet, St. Paul never stopped encouraging Timothy and others to continue the mission. However painful life experience we are going through right now, we need to stand for truth that set us free and continues to live. Truth needs to be fanned by the works mercy and charity. Even though truth will not die down, failure to fan would end up reducing its warmth and splendour of sparkling faith. Every one of us need to encourage the other to utilize the gift of God that God has entrusted for the sake of spreading the Good News. Ignite the gifts of God in each one of us to keep the warmth of God in our communities. Let us not lose hope and trust in God and one another when no one is interested in truth and charity. “But I am not ashamed, for I know the one in whom I have put my trust, and I am sure that he is able to take care of all until that day what I have entrusted to Him.” (Tim.1:12). The responsorial Psalm praises, “To you, O Lord, I lift up my eyes.” (Ps.122:1). The Gospel teaches us that the resurrection is the truth we need to believe in and our faith is based on the resurrection of Jesus. When Jesus is mocked by the religious leaders on the belief of the resurrection, Jesus explained them that there is a life after death, marriage is only for the earth and human life on earth is the spring board to Heaven or a time of preparation to reach Heaven. This truth transforms our inner beings and enlivens our hope towards the future. May the Lord bless us to spread the truth about Jesus and live for His values and ideals He left for us. May you have a good day. God bless you.
