It is 25th May 2021.

We celebrate the memorials of St Mary Magdalene de’ Pazzi, virgin, St Bede the Venerable, priest; and St Gregory VII, pope.

We reflect from Sirach 35:1-12 and the Gospel from Mark 10:28-31.

Generosity to the Lord in the poor and the needy is the root of all blessings. Being stingy to the Lord limits the flow of blessings in our life.  It is better to appear before the empty hearted than empty handed.  We need to be grateful for all the gifts we are enjoying at present and of the past.  None of us can go to bed without reflecting and thanking for having enjoyed the providence and boundless generosity of God.

To adhere the commandment of the Lord, the generosity of heart is the basis.  People who are stingy, calculative, critical and reservation on giving find it extremely hard to follow even the simplest law of God in their lives.

“Give to the Most High as he has given to you, and as generously as you can afford.” (Sir.35:12).

The Gospel warns us that we cannot be generous and demand favours from God.  Generosity to the Lord guarantees our life with God for eternity.  The reward for our generosity is for sure in full measure of material blessings here on earth and to experience the spiritual blessings that comes by believing in Christ.  It is our perseverance in generosity to the Lord at the times of despair and deviations of our life rewards us at the end.  Generosity instils in us the patience we require to wait on the Lord to look up us.  God forgives all our sins by our spontaneous and generous offertory to the Lord.  Is our generosity wrapped in complaints or compliments?  Are tired of being generous to the needy and God due to loss, pain, woes, worries, and the heaviness of sins?  May you have a peaceful day.  God bless you.
