May the Lord bless you with peace and health.

It is 24th May 2021.  We celebrate memorial of Mary, Mother of the Church.

We reflect from Genesis 3:9-15, 20 and the Gospel John 19:25-34.

This memorial is another honour for Mother Mary recognised by the Church.  Pope Francis encouraged us that Monday after Pentecost to be celebrated as Mary, Mother of the Church giving the due and honour to Mary.

Mary gathers all the believers under the umbrella of the Church.  Known and believed as the Mother of Jesus is brought closer to the Church and all the believers as the Mother of the Church just because of Her unwavering response to God and brought the Only Son of God, Jesus to the world.

Prayer life and contemplative accompaniment with the Apostles after the Pentecost.  Her motherly love for the budding apostolic Church through Her humble and prayerful presence kept the Church spreading and reaching out to the ends of the earth.

A mother is one who provides, protects, and propels her children not only with material benefits but by her unwavering faith in God through prayer and untiring charity.  Mother of the Church kept the Apostles together in prayer and in connection with Her Son Jesus with the presence and guidance of the Holy Spirit.  When the humanity became naked and robbed off its original state of grace by the invasion of sin and Satan, Mother Mary clothed the fallen humanity with Her affirmative and unchanging response to God by giving us all the fruit of Her womb, Jesus our Lord and Saviour.  As the Eve held the title as the mother of all who live while Mary enjoys the title of being Mother to all who believer and more specially to the community of believers, the Church.  “Then to the disciple he said, ‘This is your mother.” (Jn.19:34).

It is the day we need to be grateful to God for giving us Mother Mary to us, the believers and to the Church at large.  Jesus did not leave the world leaving us orphans rather He entrusted to a loving, caring and ever-interceding Mother Mary.  As She kept the Church united by her profound sharing about Jesus to the Apostles, She guides and recommends our prayers and petitions to Her Son Jesus.  Let us turn to Mary daily to come closer to the Saviour.  Have a peaceful day.  God bless you.
