Everyone is called by God to sow the seeds of love, hope, peace and holiness, wherever we are

May the Lord grant you grace, peace and health in the Holy Spirit.

It is 20th July 2022. We reflect on Jeremiah 1:1, 4-10 and Matthew 13:1-9 We celebrate the memorial of St Apollinaris, Bishop of Classis, and martyr.

“Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, and before you were born, I consecrated you; I appointed you a prophet to the nations.” (Jer.1:5). The call of Jeremiah echoes in everyone of us with the most assuring God’s Word.

Everyone is called by God to sow the seeds of love, hope, peace and holiness, wherever we are. God called Jeremiah to be the prophet of Israel to lead them closer to God. Everything went well with Jeremiah at the beginning until King Josiah died; corruption and lethargy in spiritual life gripped the hearts and lives of people and made them less productive spiritually.

Just like the prophet, we continue to sow the Word of God no matter is the response given by the soil. Listening to the Word is indeed a gift and it is given to us with the purpose of its extended fruition beyond on.

Rejection and suffering are the immediate response to every attempt we make in spreading the Good News. Jesus prepares the hearts of the disciples to be open in the event of opposition and resistance. Not everyone has a perfect mindset, and conditions to be fruitful. Some struggle and some others do not have the provisions to be fruitful, yet we continue sowing. May we always cooperate with God in sowing God’s Word. God bless you.
