Dear People of God,
It is 30th day of December. The First Reading from the First Letter of St. John stresses firmly that we need to do the will of the Father in our lives daily. A caution comes in the first reading “Have no love for the world, nor the things that the world offers.” (1 John 2:15). What does world offer us? It offers, “The lust of the flesh and the lust of the eyes and the pride of life, is not of the Father but is of the world.” (1 Jn. 2:16). We too read from other places “if anyone loves the world, the Father’s love has no place in him.” (1 Jn 2.15). If we are set on the things of the world, we are enemies of the cross. (Phil 3:18-19). “A person is marked out as God’s enemy if he/she chooses to be the friend of the world.”(James 4:4). The sensual lust, enticement for the eyes, and pretentious life are not from God. We need to be extremely cautious about these things which are not from God. We must strive daily to find out what is the will of God in our life? In the Gospel, we have a prophetess, Anna, who did the will of God and hoping in God. We are truly invited today to hope in God and in Heaven so as to avoid these worldly attachments. May the Lord bless you today to do God’s will in your life. May God bless you.
