t is 28th January 2015. The Readings are from Heb. 10:11-18 and the Gospel from Mk. 4:1-20. We are celebrating the memorial of St. Thomas Aquinas, Priest and Doctor of the Church. A Dominican priest dedicated most of his life for Philosophy and Theology. The first reading talks about the supreme sacrifice of Jesus. The priests from the Jewish tradition have to offer a repeated sacrifice which still reminded the sins of the people and made them far from God. There was no love in that sacrifice. On the contrary, there was love in the sacrifice of Jesus offered once and for all. Jesus shed his own blood to expiate our sins. Because of the death of Jesus, God does not remember our sins anymore. “I will remember their sin no more.” (Jer. 31:34). The Responsorial Psalm reiterates the priesthood of Jesus saying, “You are a priest for ever, in the line of Melchizedek.” (Ps.110:4b). The Gospel brings out four kinds of persons and their response to the Word of God. The hard ground persons are the ones who lack interest in their response. The rocky ground persons are the ones who are shallow and peripheral in their response. The thorny ground persons are the ones who have too many priorities which choking the Word. The good ground persons are the ones who receive it and put it into action. Which type of ground are you? Whatever the condition we are in, if we make some possible adjustments in the environment of the seed, the harvest is for sure. Let us do our part and the rest is in the hands of God. Have a blessed day.
