It is 15th October 2015. We celebrate St. Teresa of Avila, the Virgin and the Doctor of the Church. The readings are from Rom.3:21-30 and the Gospel from Lk. 11:47-54. The first reading answers that through faith in Jesus, we are justified. He sacrificed himself in order to gain the redemption for all us. When we are justified in Jesus, God does not look at us as a sinner. God wants us to get our relationship with God right through our faith in Jesus. It is Jesus who puts us all right with God through His sacrifice. The responsorial Psalm prays, “With the Lord there is mercy and fullness of redemption.” (Ps.129:7). The Gospel points out clearly that this generation has to take responsibility for the killing of God’s prophets and messengers. The world wants to get rid of good people who point out the mistakes of the world by evil means using their intelligence, muscle power and with the influence of law they hold. The world has to face God one day for its evil deeds especially the death of Abel and murder of Zechariah and above all the death of Jesus, the Prophet par excellence. “Yes, I tell you, this generation will be held responsible for it all.” (Lk.11:51). We are too quick to condemn those who disturb our conscience. May the Lord grant us the courage to accept when corrected and pointed out by God’s Spirit through God’s people. May God give you peace.
