It is 29th January 2019. The readings are from Hebrews 10:1-10; and the Gospel from Mark 3:31-35. A real family is the one in which God is not just part of it but on top of it and an authentic family through which we are coming closer to God and Christ. The worshiping and serving community in which people have a spiritual bond that make us to connect with the society. Participation and doing is the key for the will of God. We are all good persons deep down. Yet the circumstances, the environment and the relationships we are in have the extreme possibilities to behave the otherwise. Listening to the Word of God alone is not sufficient to discern and do the will of God. But doing and living what we have is the will of God in our lives. Hearing and attending Holy Eucharist is not sufficient for our salvation but meaningful participation and eventually make sacrifices for the larger community of God out there is the will of God. In the first reading, we are gently reminded that we have become the believer in Christ not to hear Him but to follow Him taking up our daily tasks and making the difference around. Perfection does not come by repetitions of the same act but through constantly renewed performance that brings about the desired effect in us. When we are capable of being a manufacturers and suppliers of the spiritual gifts right from within, why do engage in activities that destroy the gifts of love, peace and hope in others? Sin offerings and following a set of laws do not make us to live up to the standards of God but doing the will of God does it. Hence, doing the will of God is an act of a free mind to perform an action for the welfare of the other without any fear or prejudice. Again, doing the right thing when everyone else have chosen to do the opposite and choosing to do the correct things when we have all the possibility to do the evil. It is the obedient act does by a generous soul. Mary said: I am the handmaid of the Lord, be it done to me according to your Word.” (Lk. 1:38). Our adequate and appropriate response to God’s love is doing the will of God on a daily basis. The responsorial Psalm intercedes, “Here am I, Lord; I come to do your will.” (Ps.39:8,9). The Gospel firmly teaches us that by listening and following the Word of God, we are qualified to be God’s family. Doing God’s work among God’s people and prioritising God in all we do and say by our active involvement and participation in the welfare and development of the others is the will of God. It is very painful and even sorrowful to do the will of God. Without this pain of the soul, we cannot be cleansed truly that makes us worthy partakers of the spiritual gifts. Let us choose God and do something good for God that pleases God to have God’s gracious gaze on us. May you have a good day. May God bless you.
