It is 7th February 2019. The readings are from Hebrews 12:18-19, 21-24; and the Gospel from Mark 6:7-13. We have the message of love and mission of charity yet we are still looking for something else better than what we have elsewhere. We experience Christ in the message and mission and that is what make us to long for the Heaven. We are not invited to have a strange experience on a deserted place but to encounter the person of Jesus Christ in the new covenant for which he is the mediator. We are purified by the blood of the Lamb, Jesus and by the purging of the mind through His Words. In the first reading we are invited to come closer to God by the message and mission of Christ. All of us are called to be the messengers for Christ and in a particular way to be a missionary in spreading the goodness of the Lord through our service to the others. To be a missionary one need not always travel to far distances and strange circumstances but to recognise Christ in others and in one another wherever we are rooted. It is easy to ask someone to follow Christ and to accept the message of Christ by our hard work and sacrifices but to translate and personalize what we preach is the mission and the message that is entrusted to us in a personal way. The responsorial Psalm acclaims, “O God, we ponder your love within your temple.” (Ps.47:10). In the Gospel, we reflect about Jesus sending His disciples two by two to teach, preach and to heal in His name. No messenger needs to force to stay where one is not accepted. There is so much to be done to so many places and so we need not be discouraged when one place the message and the mission not so much welcomed. We must have the guts to move to other places. Jesus wishes that the missionaries and the messengers of the Word has to be supported by the others and they need not do it as one-person-show. As a believer of a convent of love, we need to take up this responsibility of sharing and spreading the goodness of the Lord to every nook and corner of the world with a companion or with the help of a group. May you have a good day. God bless you.
