It is 01 September 2020.

The readings are from 1 Corinthians 2:10-16; and the Gospel from Luke 4:31-37.

when we know we are spiritual, we will not do unspiritual things.

In the first reading, St. Paul distinguishes between living a life of the spirit and life of the flesh.  Whatever we nurture most, so we become.

We cannot know the mind of God by some theories and mathematical calculations rather than the promptings of the Holy Spirit.

Listening constantly and guided by the Spirit of God will make us accept the Good News with openness.

We who live by the Spirit of God perceive and persuade through the Holy Spirit.   “When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all the truth; for he will not speak on his own but will speak whatever he hears, and he will declare to you the things that are to come.” (Jn.16:13).

Without the help of the Holy Spirit, we cannot identify the evil spirit and its diabolic nature.

The responsorial Psalm praises, ” The Lord is faithful in all his ways.  (Ps.145:17).

The Gospel highlights the power of Jesus over the evil Spirit.

“For with authority and power, he commands the unclean spirits, and out they come!” (Lk 4:36).

During the ministry, Jesus never overlooked the evil spirits and their manifestation of people.  In today’s Gospel, Jesus sternly deals with the evil spirit.

Unless we are anointed by the power of the Holy Spirit, we can neither recognize nor deal with it.

Let us not run away and are afraid of the power of evil spirits and their influence on our lives and others.

May the Holy Spirit help us to deal with such diabolical spirits that hurt humanity.  Have a blessed day.  God bless you.
