May the Lord give you peace and health in the Holy Spirit.  It is 16th November 2023.  We celebrate the memorials of the saints Margaret of Scotland and Gertrude, Virgin.  We reflect on Wisdom 7:22-8:1 and Luke 17:20-25.

The first reading speaks about the qualities of Wisdom.  The author enumerates 21 qualities of wisdom.  Three refers to the divine, and seven expresses perfection.  So, these qualities are attributed to God.  The sanctifying spirit that leads us to God.

Wisdom is identified with the Wisdom of the Father, the Son of God leading all to the knowledge of God.  “Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God.”  (1 Cor 2:24).  We know and experience the fullness of Truth through Christ and the Holy Spirit.

The Gospel reminds us that what we are looking for everywhere is right within each of us growing day by day as we make the efforts to approach the throne of God in charity and mercy.  We must not be blind or blindfolded because of constant attachment to the world of sin.

To experience the Wisdom of the Father, one needs to undergo a certain amount of purification.  The purging happens when we encounter Christ in the poor, the most vulnerable and in the Sacraments.

Christ is living among us.  Our work is to clear the unwanted thorns of sins from our lives to make the way for the Lord.  The reign of God unfolds where charity and mercy is coming out of our faith in Jesus.  We need to be always alert, ready and awake to spread the love of Christ so that people experience the Kingdom of God in every one of us.

May God bless you and strengthen you to reveal the values of the Kingdom in the way we all demonstrate our faith.
