May the Lord bless you with peace and health in the Holy Spirit.
It is 11th May 2021.
We reflect from Acts 16:22-34 and the Gospel of John 16:5-11.
We cannot remain unnoticed by evil when we do good. So do we need to do good? Yes, of course, we need to accelerate to the full in doing good to silence the evil otherwise the roaring and jarring of the evil would interfere with our peace and progress in our life. Whenever we do good, we need to be prepared to face evil and its shadows.
To break free the bars of the evil, we need to continue praising God. Is it possible to praise and sing to God in pain, suffering and abandonment? The episode in the first reading tells exactly what Paul and Silas did when they were imprisoned for doing good. “About midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the prisoners were listening to them and the foundations of the prison were shaken; and immediately all the doors were opened, and everyone’s chains were unfastened.” (Acts.16:26). The prison guard feared and shaken by what happened that all the prisoners escaped, and he wanted to end his life. But Paul and his companions brought them closer to God inviting them to believe in Jesus.
Even if we are unjustly condemned in our life, we do not need to make an evil effort to escape the situation. It is the work of the Holy Spirit to provide a way out for us as we have placed all our trust in Jesus. Whenever our faith is tested, we are strengthened and become a hope for the other.
In the Gospel Jesus invites us to be ready to receive the Holy Spirit as he departed from this world. “For if I do not go away, the Advocate will not come to you; but if I go, I will send him to you.” With the power of the Holy Spirit in our lives, we can overcome any challenging situation and out of which we can bring others near Jesus. Have a peaceful day. God bless you.
