May the Lord bless you with peace and health in the Holy Spirit.
It is 14th May 2021. We celebrate the Feast of St Matthias, Apostle. His name denotes one who is given by God or God’s gift in the place of the betrayer.
We reflect from Acts 1:15-17, 20-26 and the Gospel from John 15:9-17.
A few were called by Jesus in person and the rest are called and chosen by the believers and the community. The saint of the day falls under the later category. Whatever the way we have become believer in the Lord to serve and lead others to the Lord of service. We may not be ready to be chosen by God to replace, serve and to be sent yet with the power of the Holy Spirit we can respond positively.
We praise in the Responsorial Psalm, “The Lord will give him a seat with the leaders of his people.” (Ps.113:8).
A personal relationship and faith in Jesus are so crucial to be faithful the call we have received from the Lord and the community. We are the witnesses of the Risen Christ today and so we are to live in such a way we can bring someone closer to Jesus.
To be a mediocre is easy but to be a messenger is a choice and sacrifice.
Jesus clearly tells us that it is He who chose us to continue His mission of love, mercy, and forgiveness. It is not just merely a privilege to be chosen by the Lord, but it is a personal responsibility that is entrusted with each one of us. “You did not choose me but I chose you. And I appointed you to go and bear fruit, fruit that will last.” (Jn.15:16). Jesus expects us to play our part and role in every given moment of our life not only during a vacancy and emergency.
May the Lord help us to realise our call to serve. Have a peaceful day. God bless you.
