It is 06th August 2022. We celebrate the feast of Transfiguration of the Lord. We reflect on Daniel 7:9-10, 13-14; 2 Peter 1:16-19; and Luke 9:28-36.
Even though a privileged three namely Peter, James and John had the opportunity to see the divine identity of Jesus revealed in glory accompanied by Moses and Elijah. Amidst millions of questions in their minds and frozen to fear and frightened to the core, they did not debate and dissipated but they kept silence reflecting all they witnessed.
The divinity of Jesus was on display with Moses and Elijah representing the Law and the Prophets. The Transfiguration is a moment of the Father as He introduced Jesus, the Second Person of Holy Trinity to those who were close to Jesus.
Recognition and praise of the Father invites us not just to remain admiring Jesus but to listen and learn from Him. “This is my Son, my Chosen; listen to him!” Hence, we equip ourselves to be aware and appreciate God’s divine glory revealed fully in Jesus.
This feast provides room to believe in the divinity of Jesus. This personal encounter of Jesus enables us to be witnesses of love, faith and hope among the people. May the Transfiguration of our Lord help us to come down from the mountain experience to the realities of the plains and meadows of life. May God bless you.
