The objective of God’s love for us to heal us from the bruises of sin and shame

Good morning good people may the Lord give you peace. It is 30th January 2024.  We reflect on

Good morning good people may the Lord give you peace.

It is 30th January 2024.  We reflect on 2 Samuel 18:9-10, 14, 24-25, 30-19:3 and Mark 5:21-43.

Love blinds the vision of the heart even after it is hurt.

When there is profound love for one another, it is easy to deal with the loss and letting go.

God’s love overlooks our fallenness and faithlessness.  God never magnifies our sinfulness and secret sinful agenda, but God heals them and deletes them once and for all.

Opposing to such profound love is to have arrogance in holding on even amidst ample opposition.

God alone goes out of God’s ways to nurse our wounds inflicted by infidelity, disloyalty, and sickness.

Defeating someone must not be the objective of our life at the cost of losing love and relationship.  We are reminded to let go and let God in when we are having the loss, sickness, and defeat.

The story in the first reading describes the death of David’s son.  Instead of rejoicing over the annihilation of his enemy, David slips through mourning.

David gave the utmost importance to relationship and family over the office he held.  Even though Absalom revolted against the king, and ended up murdered by David’s army, the king’s heart was so full of sorrow and pain.

If we can love this much deep, God loves us much more profound than any human love.  God loves us even we have revolted against Him more than any display of love we witness here on earth.

The objective of God’s love for us to heal us from the bruises of sin and shame.

The responsorial Psalm prays, “Turn your ear, O Lord, and give answer.” (Ps.85:1).

With faith in Jesus, we can overcome any fear, anxiety and sickness is the lesson from the Gospel.  “Your faith has restored you to health; go in peace and be free from your disease.” And “Do not be afraid; have only faith.” (Mk.5:34, 36).

It does not matter how long have we been suffering, what matters is our faith in Jesus that brings the desired healing.

For Jesus, death is a prolonged sleep and sickness is only the clutches of the darkness because Jesus is the resurrection and life.  Whatever the loss, pain, sickness, and sadness we are in to, we have someone to rely on and to be relieved from that is Jesus.

May we have the faith of Jairus, the lady who was inflicted for 12 years and David to let God in all our struggles and life situations.

May you have a good day.  God bless you.
