Dear People of God,

May the Lord give you peace, grace, and health in the Holy Spirit.

It is 03rd January 2023.  We celebrate the memorial of Holy name of Jesus.  We reflect on 1 John 2:29 – 3:6 and John 1:29-34.

How often do we use the Holy name of Jesus in our lives?

Archbishop Georg Gänswein, recounts emotionally, “with just a whisper of a voice, but in a clearly distinguishable manner, said in Italian: ‘Lord, I love you!’ These were the last comprehensible words of the late Pope Benedict XVI, because afterwards, he could no longer express himself.”  It shows the consistency in loving the Lord to the end.

During our lifetime and the end of our life, we all have a testimonial word we might utter that summarizes our relationship with the Lord.

John the Baptist could declare and confess openly: “Here is the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world!  This is he of whom I said, ‘After me comes a man who ranks ahead of me because he was before me.” (Jn.1:30).

The name of Jesus every knee bows down.  “That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, 11 and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.” (Phil.2:10)

Without the Word, the Wisdom of the Father, Jesus, voice of an individual has no meaning says St. Augustine.  “John is the Voice, but the Lord is the Word who was in the beginning.  John is the voice that lasts for a time; but Christ from the beginning is the Word who lives for ever.  Take away the word, the meaning, and what is the voice?”

May our life echo the name of Jesus in the actions we do in our life.  May God bless you.
