May the Lord give you grace, peace and health in the Holy Spirit. It is 31st October 2022. We reflect on Philippians 2:1-4 and Luke 14:12-14.
Do we mind Christ?
The aroma of the soul comes from the mindset we believe and built-in. If the least do not have a place in our feast, our belief remains benumbed and buried.
The mindset of Christ is to have the fragrance of charity in our actions and attitudes. It is not as easy to value the other person as we treasure ourselves. But what is expected of each one is to put on the mindset of Christ on every occasion. Putting on the mindset of Christ is not merely a theological presumption, but it is practical and real for all of us who believe in Him. Hence, “Count others better than yourselves; let each of you look to the interests of others.” (Phil.2:3-4). At times we give parties to show how powerful, rich, and influential the community is. People who cannot give us anything in return whether in word or in deed are to be our first and foremost priority invited list. “And you will be blessed because they cannot repay you, for you will be repaid at the resurrection of the righteous.” (Lk.12:14). That is what the mind of Christ is. Hospitality needs to be inclusive and deal with all hostile attitudes towards the poor, the crippled, the lame and the least in our communities.
Do we have the mindset of Christ?
We all like to be acquainted with the rich, the bold, the beautiful and the influential when we throw a party. Seldom do we include or provide for the poor while we feast. The danger of wealth is to seclude and segregate the other person. The Christian life that does not include the poor is not at all have the aroma of Christ. “So, speak and so act as those who are to be judged under the law of liberty. For judgment is without mercy to one who has shown no mercy; yet mercy triumphs over judgment.” (James 2:12-13). May God give us the openness and courage to include in our celebrations. God bless you.
