May the Lord give you peace and health in the Holy Spirit.
It is 26th May 2021. We celebrate the memorial of St Philip Neri, Priest.
The readings are from Ecclesiasticus 36:1, 4-5, 10-17 and the Gospel from Mark 10:32-45.
The prayer for people of God to blessed is the first reading. Pleading God to hear and bless those who intercede according to the promises to the ancestors. Unless we go through the sufferings of our lives, we may not recognise the blessings we receive.
To be less known is not found in our being; it needs to be explored and nurtured within each one regularly. Normally, we all want to be known, recognised, and appreciated for all that we are and all that we do. But the Gospel challenges us to be different in displaying our goodness to be noticed by others.
Service to humanity cannot have an advertisement boards around our homes. Service is the path to salvation and to God. As much we serve, so much we deserve from the Lord. God never ignores or closes God’s countenance towards the one who serves humanity around without expecting anything from God and humanity. Mercy shown to all without expect any merits in others is the service we all need to work through in our life. The moment we become envy or jealous about the service of the others, we stop serving the humanity.
Jesus is the example for the service to the humanity. “For the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life a ransom for many.” (Mk.10:45). Let us continue to emulate the model of Jesus in serving humanity without much noise. Have a lovely day. God bless you.
