Our parents, friends and relatives could forget us for something we have done or spoken.  But God has no reason to forget us

It is 17th March 2021.  We celebrate the memorial of St. Patrick, bishop.

The readings are from Isaiah 49:8-15 and the Gospel from John 5:17-30.

At times we wonder whether God remembers us. Or rather God has abandoned me and given up on me because of this or that reason.  Whatever we have done or failed doing, God remembers and loves us.  It seems to say during the covid-19 pandemic, God has forgotten the humanity.

We read the continuation of the song of suffering servant in the first reading.  God’s love is everlasting, evergreen, and ever-loving.  The presence of God never leaves us in any situation of our life.  Mostly we are not aware of the healing presence of the Lord.

“Can a mother forget the baby at her breast and have no compassion on the child she has borne?  Though she may forget, I will not forget you!” (Is.49:15)

Our parents, friends and relatives could forget us for something we have done or spoken.  But God has no reason to forget us.

The assurance of love from God increases the longevity and longing to reciprocate affection, and compassion to people around.  It is the sin, and the impact of sin makes us think that God has forgotten us.  We are the ones have forgotten the Lord due to our attachments to sin and sinful people in our life.

The responsorial Psalm praises, “The Lord is kind and full of compassion.” (Ps.145:8)

When we experience the love of the Father through Jesus, we are not afraid of the judgement. Our constant sharing of love that we have experience in Jesus brings us closer to suffering humanity and to God.   “And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” (Mt.28:20).  By doing God’s will like Jesus, we feel the presence of God in our life no matter what is going on in our life and in the world around.  May you have a good day.  God bless you.
