It is 22nd October 2020.  We celebrate the memorial of St. John Paul II, Pope.

The readings are from Ephesians 3:14-21; and the Gospel from Luke 12:49-53.

Love strengthens faith and faith sustains love.

“You may be strengthened in your inner being with power through his Spirit, and that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith, as you are being rooted and grounded in love.” (Eph.3:17).

St. Paul insists in the first reading that our constant communication with the Holy Spirit revitalizes our faith in the Lord and love for one another.  God has not got a particular reason to love us.  God cannot but love us without any qualities either.  It is God’s nature and quality to love us as God’s children as we have the capacity to love God and be grateful to all what we have today.  The proof of unconditional love of God displayed its fullness in Christ Jesus.

The responsorial Psalm praises, “The Lord fills the earth with his love.” (Ps.33:5).

In the Gospel Jesus expressed His desire that His love for the humanity as a flame to set ablaze around without selfish smoke. Conflicts and misunderstandings are bound to come in following Jesus intimately and taking a stand for Him.  To accomplish God’s plan in our lives, it is better to listen and follow the Lord closely even amidst conflicts within the family.   May the Lord help us to love God and not to hate anyone under the pretext of loving God.  Have a lovely day.  God bless you.
