It is 13th January 2021.

The readings are from Hebrews 2:14-18; and the Gospel from Mark 1:29-39.

Jesus participates and alleviates our pain and suffering not remains a spectator.

To be one among us, Jesus came us as one of us.  To release us all from pain, suffering, emotional congestion, spiritual warfare, Christ took human flesh to go through everything especially poverty, homelessness, misunderstand and humiliation to the highest level.

Most of us are still living and thinking when will this pandemic be over and we can breathe freedom and friendship again?  The feeling of fear, sickness, stigma, seclusion, loss, grieving hovering over us all around.

Jesus is our merciful and faithful High Priest who makes the sacrifice of atonement for the sins of us all.  “Because He himself was tested by what He suffered, He is able to help those who are being tested.” (Heb.2:18).

The responsorial Psalm praises, “The Lord remembers his covenant for ever” (Ps. 105:8).

To cure is human not divine.  Jesus cured many people not as the Lord but as a loving, caring human being.  His power of healing emanated from the intense prayer.  Even though Jesus was the Son of God, He prayed to the Father to fill Him with the power to face it all.  There is no healing without sufficient prayer in one’s own life.  Jesus did not want to attach to the places where the people were looking for Him and famous, but He kept moving on to places where God’s people to feel the power of God.  To be available to be people in need, we all need to come closer to God in prayer to discern and demand healing for others.  May we participate in the sufferings of people and become the intercessors for the entire humanity.  May God bless you.  Have a peaceful day.
