It is 21st January 2021.  We celebrate the memorial of St. Agnes, virgin, and martyr.  At the age of 12 she was martyred.  She holds a lamb and a palm.  She is the patron for girls.  At any point of life, we can be holy.  It is not our effort, but it is the gift of God to everyone who loves God.

The readings are from Hebrews 7:25-8:6 and the Gospel from Mark 3:1-6.

A few youngsters wanted to do trekking on the nearest mountain.  They began their journey.  Within a short while they were hunting for breath and sat down there.  Little farther down, they noticed an old man carrying a heavy bag on his shoulder climbing extremely fast.  They were intrigued and asked how he could do that.  He said that he was doing from his childhood carrying food for the sick, the elderly, the homeless and hungry every day.  He said that there is so much of energy from within me when I climb for the welfare of the others.   There are unstoppable energy gushes out from within whenever we go out to help others.

In serving the suffering humanity, our inner energy is multiplied never gets mutilated.

Jesus is our High Priest of the New Covenant being holy, innocent, unstained, separated from sinners and exalted, and He is the Son of God who does everything for us all so that we are healed integrally.  Jesus never turns down anyone.  Jesus wants us to be healed in our mind, body, and spirit.  There is a longing in every one of us to touch Jesus.  The first reading strongly stresses that Jesus is our sure salvation, and He intercedes for us all.

Even though He was working round the clock, the overwhelming crowd that longed to touch Him to be healed, He was available for them while the evil spirit recognised as the Son of God.

If we know and accept ourselves, we do not get hurt time and time again.  When our personality is weak and depending on others, we tend to be hurt.

St. Theresa of Calcutta answered those who admired, “I have to tell them that I would not have any if I were not convinced that each time, I touch the body of a leper, a body that reeks with a foul stench, I touch Christ’s body, the same Christ I receive in the Eucharist.”

We will never be exhausted when we are doing good.  Let us continue doing good tirelessly during this unprecedented time of the history.

May the Lord bless you.  Have a good day.
