It is 11th January 2020.

The readings are from Hebrews 1:1-6; and the Gospel from Mark 1:14-20.

God continues to communicate through Jesus in action and expects us to respond in action as well.  God never stops speaking to God’s people.  God speaks through so many ways and means in our family and community and more visibly through Jesus in the Sacraments of salvation and in the suffering humanity around us.

We begin the ordinary time with Jesus, the Word of God, the Wisdom of the Father, and the Son of God.

The author of the letter to Hebrews teaches us, “Jesus is the reflection of God’s glory and the exact imprint of God’s very being, and he sustains all things by his powerful word.” (Heb.1:3).  Through the Priesthood and Primacy of Jesus, God established the New covenantal relationship with us.  To be grateful to the Father-God is the expression of thankfulness to the Son.

The responsorial Psalm praises, “Let all his angels worship him.” (Ps.96:7).

Jesus called four fishermen initially to continue the mission of bringing people closer to God by calling for repentance.  Our conversion comes by leaving the habitual acts and to create a new bonding and relationship with Christ.  “And Jesus said to them, “Follow me and I will make you fish for people.” And immediately they left their nets and followed him.” He called His first disciples, Peter, and Andrew, and He called James and John. In the same way Jesus calls us even today to repent and follow Him wholeheartedly.  Do we hear Him calling?  May the Spirit of the inspire us to heed His call.  Have a lovely day.  God bless you.
