It is 04th July 2022. We commemorate the memorial of Saint Elizabeth of Portugal. We reflect on Hosea 2:16-18, 21-22 and Matthew 9:18-26.
The marital bonding and relationship between God and Israel put its importance of it at the top. Fidelity and faithfulness between the spouses are the supreme expressions of love. “I will betroth you to myself forever, betroth you with integrity and justice, with tenderness and love; I will betroth you to myself with faithfulness, and you will come to know the Lord.” (Hos.2:22).
God’s love is not determined by the way we love God and however unfaithful and wanting our love might be yet, God loves us as the love of the prophet to his spouse who estranged him umpteen times.
Problems in the families could affect our loving relationship with God. Forgiveness brings us closer not only to God but helps us to accept our vulnerability towards others.
Jesus allowed the lady who needed healing from her perennial physical ailment as well as the haunting fear of being stigmatised, segregated and silenced by the majority. The synagogue official and the woman neared Jesus with tremendous faith even though they had different statuses in the community. The Lord always speaks to our hearts and leads us all for integral healing. May God help us approach God no matter how fragile and vulnerable we might feel at this point and time in our life.
