May the Lord give you grace and peace in the Holy Spirit.
It is 03rd February 2023.
We reflect on Hebrews 13:1-8 and Mark 6:14-29.
What is
“When you have nothing left but God you become aware that God is enough.”
Truth cannot be murdered but the witnesses of truth are always sacrificed by those who do not want the truth to have its way.
Just because someone is threatening, including the devil, we do not need to be afraid. The assurance of God is irreducible or irreversible. The Lord constantly consoles us: “I will never leave you or forsake you.” (Heb.13:5).
The episode of the murder of John the Baptist brings out indirect force and demand of a mother under the pretext of love. We all have the option to participate either in the banquet of death like that of today’s Gospel in which all amusements, and pleasures are involved with the life of an innocent man and there is a banquet of love that is of the Eucharist in which the Lord offers Himself as His Body and Blood for our salvation.
The influence of the parents does affect the choice and decision of the child. Love and control never reside together. There is always room for love and forgiveness when we are open and docile to the Spirit of God.
The world will not remember us for how rich and wealthy we were when we lived on earth rather it will reminisce how loving, affectionate, and relational we were with the other person and the creation.
Even if our life is at stake, it is good to stand for truth like St. John the Baptist. We must never become Herodias to get rid of the truth to live our life of lies and bogus living. May our life continue to shine in mutual love and fraternal hospitality to all people.
