May the Lord fill you with grace and bless you with health and happiness.
It is 07th September 2022.
We reflect on 1 Corinthians 7:25-31 and Luke 6:20-26.
As we move on to read about the second part of the letter with mild and encouraging words from Paul. He attempted to answer a question whether marriage, and celibacy are a Christian institution? He confesses that he does not have any mandate regarding celibacy yet keeping the second coming of Christ in mind was imminent, he encouraged people to be contented with the vocation they are in.
He admonished them that they are not to rush for anything, and not to live a life of possessiveness treating the spouses as possession belong to one another rather as believers in Christ. For Paul, Matrimony and Celibacy have the witnessing values for every Christian.
The Lukan version of the Beatitudes, the sermon on the plains is more closer to the original words of Jesus and directly addressed. These are basic conditions for Christian life from Luke while the sermon on the Mount from Matthew are qualities for spiritual life. Good News is for the poor, the neglected, and the oppressed. Blessedness is not found in wealth, fame and festitivities but it is in living for the other person. It is overly stated towards the rich to warn and reprimand them. Giving, sharing and sacrifices bring us inner peace. May the Lord help us find happiness in God.
