May the Lord give you grace, peace and health in the Holy Spirit.
It is 03rd October 2022. We reflect on Galatians 1:6-12 and Luke 10:25-37.
Charity does not require a profile and protocol.
Whenever we have become critical of our life of charity and generosity, we drift drastically away from God.
St. Paul points out to the Galatians that the presence of hypercritical people among them moves away from the values of the Gospel. If our faith does not help me to be a better person towards the suffering humanity, then we need to relook at our faith seriously.
We do not believe God just goes to Heaven. Our belief in Jesus helps us to care for our mother earth and neighbours around us. The more we analyze, and examine the background of the neighbour, the more reasons we would have not to help the other. Our reasoning must not strangle the windpipes of charity.
Formality, normality, and morality do not need to apply so meticulously to leave out the poor and the needy. There are millions of needy neighbours around. If we have a problem with these little ones, we have a grave issue with our faith encounter.
Showing mercy to everyone and even to the so-called underserved ones is proof of loving God. The greedy and hungry world has not stopped robbing and making them bruised and broken daily. We cannot just pass by praying, playing, and working. Being busy with business is not indeed a Christian life.
We are going to have more than one opportunity to show mercy. It is not about pleasing people and scoring points but to be in the good books of God. May God bless you.
