May the Lord give you grace, peace and health in the Holy Spirit.
It is on 27th September 2022. We celebrate the memorial of St Vincent de Paul the founder of the Vincentians and Daughters of Charity and Patron of all charitable works. We reflect on Job 3:1-3, 11-17, 20-23 and Luke 9:51-56.
Wind of suffering cannot wipe us away when we have the wings of prayers. Job and Jesus faced outright rejection. Job got dejected while Jesus projected His vision clear on Jerusalem.
Rejection is the most painful feeling for us to live with. When we feel rejected by God and the significant persons in our life, we do not have any inner energy, hope and faith to live for. “Why is life given to a man whose way is hidden, whom God has hedged in?” (Job.3:23).
“On their way, they entered a village of the Samaritans to make ready for him, but they did not receive him.” (Lk.9:52). How do we feel when we are rejected by those whom we love genuinely?
By constantly clinging to God and holding on to our faith, we can go through any tunnel of pain, suffering and sorrow in our life.
Encountering the Lord in abject poverty, pain and rejection cement our hope. Any rejection could be overcome by our generosity to those who are in need and especially those in the bush of suffering and pain of rejection. May the Lord bless us to be generous and open to the rejected ones in our community and family. God bless you.
