Dear People of God,
It is 04th of January 2015. It is the Feast Day of the Epiphany of our Lord. God manifesting himself through his Beloved son Jesus. God is showing himself to those who are seeking for him even though they are not his chosen people. Three Magi namely Gaspar, Balthazar and Melchior’s visit is symbolically representing our presence before Jesus. The first reading is from the Prophet Isaiah encouraging the people who are in exile that they will all see the glory of God amidst their suffering. In the second reading, St. Paul brings a message of hope to the Ephesian community telling that God’s revelation is universal and through this everyone will enjoy the salvation in Christ Jesus in addition to the inclusion of Jews and gentiles in the plan of God. All of us are called to participate in this salvation. The Responsorial Psalm rightly sings, “Lord every nation on earth will adore you.” The Gospel reading brings out the account of the visit of three wise men. Three Seekers brought three gifts. Gold for the King, Frankincense or incense for the Priest, Myrrh, the embalming oil for a symbol of death. On this day, we are invited to reflect Jesus as the Light of the world who attracts the others who are in need for this light. There is a light of hope, joy and peace in Jesus. God does not show partiality to anyone in revealing himself as light. We all need that light. Magi were looking for that light and finally they found Jesus the eternal Light. Let us look up to the Light of Christ and be saved. May God bless you.
