It is 04th October 2015. We celebrate 27th Sunday of the Ordinary Time. We too celebrate the Solemnity of St. Francis of Assisi, the Patron of Ecology. We wish all those who named after Francis, starting from our beloved Pope Francis and all the Franciscans world at large. We too take a stand in protecting our environment. The readings are from Gen.2:18-24; Heb.2:9-11 and the Gospel from Mk.10:2-16. The first reading brings out God’s plan for the human beings. God created man and woman. Human beings were not satisfied in all the beauty of its creation for an intimate and personal companionship except in another human person. Man found himself in the woman and vice versa. The institution of marriage was the intention of the Creator God right from the start. The responsorial Psalm prays, “May the Lord bless us all the days of our lives.” (Ps.128:5). The second reading points out that we are one in Jesus through the consecration. “He who consecrates and those who are being consecrated all have one origin.” (Heb. 2:11). The Gospel reinstates the stand of the first reading. Family life comprised of a man, a woman and children is sacred and is the original purpose of God for human beings. Tampering with the unity and peace of the married life is indeed a direct rejection of God’s plan for humanity. Complementarity or mutual interdependence is the vital for the marriage. May the Lord bless our families to live up to God’s plan. On my part, I am praying for all the married people who are ignored, silenced, abused and sidelined by one of the spouses. NEVER GIVE UP ON LOVE AND GOD. May God give you peace.
