It is 8th October 2015. The readings are from Mal.3:13-4:2a and the Gospel from Lk.11:5-13. Malachi means my messenger. In the first reading, prophet Malachi encourages those who are obedient and sincere to God, not to give up on God. God promises some special allowances for those who obey and serve God. The evil and the wicked will be dealt seriously by God in God’s time because God hears, listens and remembers the good things we do. God loves the good we do and hates the evil we engage. We need to be patient with God. “For you who fear my name, the sun of righteousness will shine out with healing in its rays.” (Mal.3:20). The responsorial Psalm prays, “Happy the person who trusts in the Lord.” (Ps.39:5). The Gospel proposes perseverance is the basic for the school of prayer. It is our determination and persistence in our prayer makes the prayer go rich. Yes, God makes us to wait not to make us feel inconvenienced but for our own good. Waiting on the Lord is indeed grace. God may not give us the menial things we regularly ask, rather God promises us to give the Holy Spirit, the spirit of courage, joy, strength and the power to obey. “If then, who are evil, know how to give your children what is good, how much more will the Heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask God.” (Luke.11:13).
