It is 21st November 2015. We celebrate the memorial of the Presentation of the Blessed Virgin Mary. We are reminded that the parents of Mary brought her to the temple at the age of three to be educated by the holy women. This celebration reveals that how Mary right from her early life, she became dedicated to God’s service and God’s will. We too offer our children to God and God’s church at the early stages of their lives. It is also the day for all of us to renew our commitment to the Lord. We need to contemplate the mercies of the Lord like our mother Mary. The readings are from Zech.2:10-13 and the Gospel from Mt.12:46-50. The first reading speaks about the initiative of God to dwell among us. “God will dwell among you and you shall know that the Lord of hosts has sent me to you.” (Zech.2:10). The responsorial Psalm praises, “The Almighty has done great things for me, and holy is his Name.” (Lk.1:49). The Gospel invites us to do the will of God in order to be part of the family of Jesus. It is our relationship with the Will and the Word of the Father makes us to be brother, sister and mother to Jesus. It is by doing the will of God, we belong to a new spiritual family. Every moment of our lives, we need to discern the will of God and willing to reconnect to God. “For whoever does the will of my Father in heaven is my brother and sister and mother.” (Mt.12:50). May God grant you peace.
