It is 27th November 2015. The readings are from Dan.7:2-14 and the Gospel from Lk.21:29-33. The first reading offers the apocalyptic vision which means the vision of revealing the future of the world. Four winds from four directions denote the chaos the world was in before creation. From this emerges four beasts. The lion represents the Babylonians, the bear represents the Medes, the leopard represents the Persian Empire, and the dreadful, terrifying, exceedingly strong fourth beast represents the Alexander’s empire. All these monstrous beasts are judged by the Son of Man, who has the dominion over them all. “His sovereignty is an eternal sovereignty which shall never pass away nor will his empire ever be destroyed.” (Dn. 7:14) The responsorial Psalm praises, “Give glory and eternal praise to God.” (Dn.3:59). The Gospel reassures the permanency of Jesus and His eternal words in our lives. “Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away.” (Lk.21:33). Many things and people are changing around us. The Word of God will last and outlive time and memory. It is the Word of God that gives us the power to see God, to have faith in God and to achieve what God intends for us. May we trust God and God’s rule through God’s only beloved Son Jesus and His Words. May God grant you peace.
