It is 30th November 2015. We celebrate the feast day of St. Andrew, the Apostle, who was a disciple of St. John the Baptist before he encountered Jesus. He preached the Good News of Jesus in Greece and was martyred on an X-shaped cross. The readings are from Rom.10:9-18 and the Gospel from Mt. 4:18-22. The first reading insists that our faith comes from hearing the Word of God and believing it in our hearts. We are promised that we will never be put to shame because of Jesus. It is our duty to pray for those who bring the Good News to us. We must pray that they may not corrupt the Word of God through their selfish and secret agenda. It is indeed a blessing to have someone to talk about and to deepen the understanding of the Word of God. “How beautiful are the feet of those who bring the good news?” (Rom.10:15). It our duty to pass on the Good News to the others. Let us start sharing the Word of God with one person daily. As St. Francis of Assisi tells us, “Start by doing what is necessary then do what is possible and suddenly you are doing the impossible.” The responsorial Psalm prays, “Lord, you have the words of everlasting life.” (Jn.6:68). The Gospel invites us to be a witness and follower of Jesus. Jesus wants us to meet the other people and share the Good News of the Kingdom. “Come after me, and I will make you fishers of people.” (Mt.4:19).
