It is 21st December 2015. The readings are from Song.2:8-14 and the Gospel from Lk.1:39-45. The first reading presents intimate relationship between God and God’s people. It is the poem of the bride and her beloved. New life and new love blooms as the flowers emit the fragrance announcing a lovely spring. The groom is God and we are God’s Beloved. We are all invited to come closer to God so intimately and experience joy and happiness as we are fast approaching the Christmas. The responsorial Psalm invites us to sing, “Ring out your joy to the Lord, O you just; O sing him a song that is new.” (Ps.32:3). The Gospels describes the visitation of Mary to Elizabeth. Mary is rejoicing because she found a special favour with God. She wanted to share the good news of what God has done to her. She goes all the way to meet her older relative. It is indeed an initiative of Mary to go out of her way to communicate God’s love with humility. God is pleased with us, when we communicate with others in love and sacrifice. Faith leaps for charity. Faith leads to do good. Faith brings out the personal greatness in humility. Faith designs our inner being to be docile to God’s plan of salvation no matter what it takes. Mary is the model for being a faithful follower of God. Faith sets us free to experience the grace of God like Mary and to make effort to share it with someone. May God bless you and have a good day.
