It is 10th April 2017. We are celebrating the Monday in Holy Week. The readings are from Isaiah 42:1-7; and the Gospel from John 12:1-11. The first reading alluding the figure of Jesus in the prophecy of Isaiah all that God wants to achieve through His humble services to the humanity. What we are in persons to be seen and experienced in our actions. God’s spirit in us needs to be in touch with the other persons with God’s spirit not only for their welfare but also beyond themselves even to those who seem to oppose the goodness and the possibilities of doing good to others. “I, the Lord, have called you for the victory of justice, I have grasped you by the hand; I formed you and set you as a covenant of the people, a light for the nations, to open the eyes of the blind, to bring out prisoners from confinement and from the dungeon, those who live in darkness.” (Is.42:6,7). The responsorial Psalm sings, “The Lord is my light and my salvation.” (Ps.27:1). The Gospel offers the scene of Mary anointing the feet of the Lord Jesus with the very expensive ointment. The comments of Judas bring out the internal disposition of the disciple. Judas not only criticized the act of anointing but had an agenda of destroying the bond of love between him and Jesus openly. Does our word build others or harm the relationship with Jesus? Are we using the poor as our excuse and cover up our deep-seated sins of betrayal and sins of the mind? In our final analysis of lives, we need to display our allegiance to Jesus by the very acts we choose to perform to prove we are the authentic followers or the false betrayers.
