It is 12th September 2017. The readings are from Colossians 2:6-15; and the Gospel from Luke 6:12-19. St. Paul reminds the Colossians that the Baptism they received is only a beginning not an end in relating with Christ. “As you therefore have received Christ Jesus the Lord, continue to live your lives in him, rooted and built up in him and established in the faith, just as you were taught, abounding in thanksgiving.” (Col.2:6). He suggested them to maturing in their connection with Christ by walking with Christ, rooting in His Values, building His Kingdom, and teaching the Gospel of Christ and be thankful to the Lord always. Our Baptism is only an initiation toward a long journey of encountering Christ as we grow in the Christian maturity. The responsorial Psalm praises, “The Lord is compassionate toward all his works.” (Ps.145:9). In the Gospel, Jesus chooses His most closes allies for His work after an extended period of prayer. Jesus ‘spent the whole night in prayer to God.’(Lk.6:12). It is indeed a reminder for all of us to put our personal prayer in order to embark anything whether it is a small big move we need to make. Our prayer life is the most import fiber that connects us to God to relate with the rest of the world. The decisions we make will end in success and will be in line with God’s plan as we have submitted ourselves in prayer. Prayer prepares our inner being to accommodate the plan of God as we wish to have one of our own. God listens to our prayers always. God wants to let us know that the Spirit of God would make us to do things and prepare ourselves to face anything with the power of prayer. Our maturity in Christian life cannot happen without quality and personal prayers. May God bless you abundantly as you grow in His love.
