It is 13th October 2017. The readings are from Joel 1:13-15, 2:1-2; and the Gospel from Luke 11:15-26. “Let all who dwell in the land tremble, for the day of the LORD is coming; Yes, it is near, a day of darkness and of gloom, a day of clouds and somberness!”(Joel 2:1). God invites God’s people to repent and come back to Him in the first reading. God wanted the people to honour His covenant by obeying Him. A stern warning is given by the prophet Joel if the people fail to repent they will be judged by God. The responsorial Psalm praises, “The Lord will judge the world with justice.” (Ps.9:9). The Gospel issues us warning that if do not take care of our spiritual life and put house spiritual space in order, we will tormented by the evil more powerful than we could handle. We need to create spaces of love, happiness and relationship with one another. We must not invade people with our selfishness and sinfulness. Our sources of communion with one another needs to be based on the love of Christ seen in the concrete actions. When we begin to be complacent and indifferent, we offer the opportunities for more evil to come into our lives. May our authentic love and charity help us to widen the space of communion with one another creating a selfless space. May you have a good day.
