It is 24th January 2015. The Readings are from Heb.9:2-3, 11-14 and the Gospel from Mk 3:20-21. We have the memorial of St. Francis of Sales, Bishop and Doctor of the Church. He preached with conviction and eventually many people returned to the Church. He was appointed bishop of Geneva. He spent a lot time to reform and reorganise the diocese. His special gift was preaching and spiritual guidance. He taught us that holiness is for all not for certain group of people. He is the patron saint of writers and journalists. The first reading brings out the glory of God’s presence among the people in such a magnificent way. The entry into God’s presence was reserved to a very few people. Jesus is the Entrance and the Way to God. The separation between God and us is wiped away by the Blood of Jesus Christ. High Priest of the past was permitted to enter once a year to purify the people externally through the blood of goats, and bullocks . But Jesus as the High Priest entered only once and made it possible cleansing us internally through His own Precious Blood. It is the sacrifice of Jesus brought our salvation and enabled us to be pure, holy and servants of God. The Gospel notifies us the misunderstandings of the family members of Jesus had on him. “A person’s enemies will be the members of his own household.” (Mt.10:36). The family of Jesus did not like the way Jesus was going about in the society preaching and healing. They did not like that He left his family profession to be a carpenter. When we are misunderstood, how do we respond and react? May the Blood of Christ wipe away all the tears. and emotional pains of misunderstanding in our lives. Have a good day.
