It is 24th November 2015. We celebrate Sts. Andrew and companions, the Martyrs. The readings are from Dan.2:31-45 and the Gospel from Lk.21:5-11. The first reading details out the interpretation of Daniel on the Babylonian king’s dream. Israel is going to dominate the history for three hundred years annihilating all other kingdoms. God holds the key to all the secrets of the history of all times. Daniel prefigures the image of Jesus. Jesus is the rock for which all other human kingdom give way to it. All human kingdom will pass away when God establishes God’s kingdom. “In the days of those kings the God of heaven will set up a kingdom that shall never be destroyed, nor shall this kingdom be left to another people.” (Dan.2:44). The responsorial Psalm praises, “Give glory and eternal praise to him.” (Dn.3:57). The Gospel speaks about the last things of the people, death, judgement, heaven and hell. We are sternly warned to witness all that God is revealing in our history. Let us not panic when we hear and read the strange and horrifying events that are unfolding in the world. We the believers in Jesus must recourse to our faith. Let us accelerate our prayer life. We need to turn to God when these things happen around us. The end is inevitable. No one knows the end. All creation has to face God one day. And therefore, we must not put our hope in the worldly power, beauty, possessions and passion. The attempt to annihilate God and God related images cannot destroy the presence of God in the minds of people. God enshrines and rules our lives all the time. We must believe that no power can remove God from us. May God bless you and protect you.
