It is 25th October 2016. The readings are from Ephesians 5:21-33; and the Gospel from Luke 13:18-21. St. Paul encourages the married couple to emulate the profound relationship between Christ and the Church. St. Paul enhances the dignity the women by giving the rightful place in the life of a married couple. She is the means of happiness for man as the man is the means of contentment for woman. The relationship they have as a husband and wife is so special, deep, devoted, complementing, ever forgiving, and loving. Holiness found in Christ and the Church through the interaction does happen when the couple interact selflessly for the benefit of the couples and the children. The marital love and commitment have the origin and source from God. As the church is the bride of Christ, the faithful need to be married to Christ and resemble Him in all that they do and say. Love and respect are inseparable. Where there is love, there is respect and vice versa. Disrespect, fights, disagreements come between the couples when love is under threat. The responsorial Psalm prays, “O blessed are those who fear the Lord.” (Ps.127:1). The Gospel invites us to do something for Christ in His Kingdom. God is watching all we do daily. However small good thing it is, let us do it. It is better to do something small than nothing at all. Everything begins in a small way. God is impressed in our little things we do for the growth of His Kingdom of love. Just like the yeast, and the tiniest mustard seed, we can be pervasive and permeating thick and thin. The charity of the church is the yeast in this world. What is the little thing have we done for Christ today? Self-sacrifice and commitment to Christ and the Church is the need of the hour for spreading the love of God. May God bless you to have a fruitful life. May God bless all our families in a special way.
