It is 22nd January 2018. The readings are from 2 Samuel 5:1-7, 10; and the Gospel from Mark 3:22-30. Unity without love does not last long. Unity cannot be forced. As long as God is the spiritual connection and the meaning for the togetherness, the unity proposed does not hold good. Unity among people proposed and glued together with the help of a spiritual and a charismatic leader who believes and trust in one God. In the first reading, we read and reflect that on their own accord people approached David to unite Judah and Israel as one sovereign country. Hebron is the place Abraham had settled down in the past and that is where the people wanted David to rule over Israel. He governed and guided the people with the good statesmanship and made Hebron and Jerusalem as the capitals. He ruled over Israel for forty years. He ruled for forty years of security, order, and affluence. God blesses the one who puts people together. The promoter of unity and peace are the sons and daughters of God. Anyone with a divisive mind and plan is the children of Satan. God blesses every tiny effort of the ones who put people at heart and glues them with love. “David grew greater and greater, and the Lord, the God of hosts, was with him.” (2 Sam.5:10). No one can unify the minds and hearts of humanity without the help of the Spirit of God. Jealousy and in-fights are the ones sprayed and spread by the evil spirits. The responsorial Psalm praises, “My truth and my love shall be with him.” (Ps.88:25). Jesus explains the need for the Holy spirit for the unity among people. Unreasonable and bitter attacks happen where people are divided and having a selfish and a hidden agenda opposed to God’s plan. A bunch of people could divide the hearts of people using their influence to demolish peace and harmony in the church, the community and in the family any time because they are the voices of the satanic world mongering for power, position and taking over by evil means to enjoy the finance and wealth. “If a kingdom is divided against itself, that kingdom can not stand.” (Mk.3:24). Unless we defend the unity of the church and protect our leaders, we stand divided and fallen. Jesus was accused and found fault for the good things He did. We need to recognize those who threaten the unity of the Church and weed them out swiftly. We, the Catholics need to stand together in unity and peace. We each one of us have the moral duty to safeguard and protect the boarders of unity right from within. Let us recourse to the Holy Spirit to help us united as a church, a community and a family. May we collaborate with the Holy Spirit by keeping our spirits pure and clean so as to be united beyond our tribal, racial gender divisions. May you have a good day. God bless you.
