It is 21st May 2018. We celebrate the memorial of Saints Christopher Magallanes and companions, martyrs. The readings are from James 3:13-18 and the Gospel is from Mark 9:14-29. What makes our hearts satisfied and contented? What do we desire most? Is it wealth, pleasure and popularity? What is it that makes our hearts be filled is that wisdom from God. People who live by the wind of jealousy and ambition, pollute the world in disharmony because of their selfish, devilish and earthly power mongering attitudes. By all means we need to come to power and to hold control over others. Some of us are led by the evil spirit and the wisdom of the world who do not care about the peace of the world rather be satisfied holding money, position and power. Purity of our lives comes by promoting peace without any agenda whatsoever. When we have such purity of our souls and minds, we are considerate, kind, gentle and willing to give-in for the sake of peace. Without the love of God, we cannot gear ourselves to go after the wisdom comes from God. There is no justice and peace without doing the will of God in our lives. Promoting and breathing peace is the will of God for us all. In every small way, we must spread peace more than anything in this world because it is what fills the human heart and soul nothing under the heaven and the earth. The responsorial Psalm acclaims, “The precepts of the Lord gladden the heart.” (Ps.18:9). The Gospel teaches us that certain type of evil like these which destroys the peace of the another needs a lot of prayer. Without prayer, we cannot deal with the evil in us and around us. Only in prayer, human souls surrender to the will of God that chases the evil. Without the power of prayer, we will be fighting the evil tooth and nail frustratingly. It is our faith in God makes us to be the warriors of prayer. Let us not recourse to prayer only getting some grocery lists rather to keep our souls away from evil daily. When we have no faith or having a defect in faith, it brings fear and we cannot dispel the darkness and expel the demons in us and around us. It is the absolute and unquestionable surrender to Jesus that required brings healing and blessings. Jesus said to him, “If you are able! ֠All things can be done for the one who believes.” Immediately the father of the child cried out, “I believe; help my unbelief!” (Mk.9:23-24). May the help us to have faith in Him at all time to have peace and blessings. May you have a good day.
