It is 11th August 2018. We celebrate the memorial of St Clare, Virgin and Religious. She was one of the first followers of St. Francis of Assisi. She lived a prayerful life in a monastery. The first woman to write the Rule of Life for Monastery. A poor lady who confined within the walls of San Damiano solely depending on the providence of God. She is the patron for the televisions and intercessor for curing eye disorders. She was the abbess, who did not compromise anything with regard to poverty, obedience and chastity telling so affirmingly: “I need to be absolved from my sins, but I do not wish to be absolved from the obligation of following Jesus Christ.” To her sisters she used to say, “Don’t be afraid. Trust in Jesus.” The readings are from Habakkuk 1:12-2:4; and the Gospel from Matthew 17:14-20. In all our human struggles and failure, God cannot be held responsible or questioned. Our faith is the only answer to deal with all that we go through painfully. In the first reading we are reminded by the prophet to be faithful to the Lord no matter what we are to go through in our life because our faithfulness and faith in the Lord offers happiness and blessing nothing else. “Look at the proud! Their spirit is not right in them, but the righteous live by their faith.” (Hab.2:4). The responsorial Psalm acclaims, “You will never forsake those who seek you, O Lord.” (Ps.9:11). Gospel teaches us that it is through our faith we come to know God in entirety. One time or the other, we all have to face some sort of sickness, sorrow, pain, natural calamities and the loss of people and properties. It is those times, we feel left out by God, forgotten by God and even neglected by God. Indeed, we need to place all our trust and confidence in God in such situations which we cannot have a control over. Yes, God is near to all who call on Him. Nothing will be impossible for anyone who trusts in the Lord. “For truly I tell you, if you have faith the size of a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move; and nothing will be impossible for you.” (Mt.17:20). What human mind cannot cognize, faith accomplishes it. Charity offers hope and it is hope that strengthen our faith in Jesus. Loving God shown to the other human persons can alone increases our faith. We can move away all that troubles us just by faith. Let not blame God for the suffering rather let us learn to deal with the pain of our hearts and live with the power of faith in Jesus. May you have a good day. God bless you.
