It is 28th September 2018. We celebrate the memorials of St. Wenceslas, Martyr and Saints Lawrence Ruiz and Companions, martyrs. The readings are from Ecclesiastes 3:1-11; and the Gospel from Luke 9:18-22. God’s time in our life for everything is perfect and rewarding. Change is inevitable. Unless we are open to change, we do not see the movements of God in our life. It is God who plans and times everything in our life. It is our duty to go with the flow of God’s time. Time is the only wealth in everyone’s life that is not utilized to the fullest. Time offers the power we need to meet God and the other human person. Time provides means to achieve salvation. Everyone is offered time by God to prove the worth of their existence. If we only use time for ourselves and our personal growth leaving the welfare of the society, it is a colossal waste of the enormous riches God has entrusted us. God does not extend time for the task that is to be completed by all of us. Yes, we all have to accomplish what is entrusted to us by God not by rushing in reckless speed and unorganised schedules rather by profound planning and prayers. Time that is wasted by us never comes back. The present moment, here and now is the richest gift God could ever offer to any human person so as to encounter God and the other human persons. “I have seen the business that God has given to everyone to be busy with. God has made everything suitable for its time; moreover, God has put a sense of past and future into their minds, yet they cannot find out what God has done from the beginning to the end.” (Eccles. 3:11). The responsorial Psalm praises, “Blessed be the Lord, my rock.” (Ps.143:1). The Gospel presents with the time Jesus waited for Him to be glorified. Only in prayer, we begin to know and believe who Jesus is personally for every one us. Unless we use the time that God given in prayer, meditation, reflection, recollection, examination of our consciences and our lives, we will be surely wasting time for trivial matters that do not bring any happiness and peace. It is through knowing and loving Christ we realise how rich are we with so much time in our life being blessed by God. May we utilise every micro second God has given us for the benefits of meeting God and the other. May you have a good day.
