It is 17th May 2019. The readings are from Acts 13:26-33; and the Gospel from John 14:1-6. There are many ways for happiness, peace and security while Jesus is the only one way to salvation. At times, we are troubled and broken-hearted when we daily witness the evil seems to be taking an upper hand and the good are shrouded by the selfish choices of humanity. Fear and anxiety dominate our days than peace and tranquillity when we experience of being cheated by the very ones in whom we placed our trust. Life appears to be pessimistic and painful for many of us who are honest, hardworking and faithful. Anger and resentment are buried and piled up in a clumsy way right within each one of us seeing the evil around us. Lies, sins and selfish situation are on the rise around pulling down our spirits to rise above the currents of evil. In these hopeless moments of our lives and beyond, we need to encounter truth, know the way and to experience life. It is all offered as one package of salvation to all of us who are so precious in the eyes of God through Jesus. God does not forget any of us just because we have sinned against God. God wants us to know that we are so special and God would go to any level to offer us peace, blessings and happiness. In the first reading, we are so assured that through God’s only Son Jesus, we who have placed our trust in Him been accepted and adopted as children of God. The responsorial Psalm praises, “You are my Son; this day I have begotten you.” (Ps.2:7). The Gospel responds with a clear positive affirmation to a pessimistic remark from St. Thomas. Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” (Jn.14:6). As Jesus is about to leave the earth, He assured us that if we wish to experience the eternal life, it is only through Him as the embodiment of truth, life and the way to God. We all have a place in the heart of God, the Father. We all can live a life free of anxiety, fear only by placing our entire trust in Jesus through our faith. Unless and until, Jesus becomes our way to God, our truth to the dichotomized life, our life to the unhealthy living, we cannot experience God to enjoy the blessings God alone can shower upon us. Our response to Jesus is urgent and very much needed for our personal happiness and social welfare. The Risen Lord Jesus strengthens the micro fibres of our faith through His life-giving Word. “It is the LORD who goes before you; he will be with you, he will not fail you or forsake you; do not fear or be dismayed.” (Deut. 31:8). May the Risen Lord fill us with His consoling presence to face anything come what may. May you be blessed.
