It is 5th December 2019. The readings are from Isaiah 26:1-6; and the Gospel from Matthew 7:21, 24-27. The Advent is the time to live a holy life. How can we live a pure life without placing our trust in the Lord who is the rock? Reaching Heaven cannot happen with a luck and fluke. “Trust in the Lord for ever, for the Lord is the everlasting Rock.” (Is. 26:4). In the first reading the prophet Isaiah presents us with the requirements to reach the holy city of the Lord. It is the song of victory. To live in holiness means to live in the Spirit and in truth. Those who hope in the Lord only can enter the city of the Lord. Peace is guaranteed for the ones who trusts in the Lord. “The effect of righteousness will be peace, and the result of righteousness, quietness and trust forever.” (Is.32:17). In order to enjoy the blessings and benevolences of God we need to hope in the Lord. Everlasting peace and victory come through the advent of Messiah. His kingdom is built on the rock and God himself protects it. Those who trust in the Lord and doing what is right enjoys the admittance into the city of blessings. The responsorial Psalm, “Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord.” (Ps.117:26). The Gospel invites us to live the Word of God. Living God’s Word is building the house of faith. Discerning the will of God happens to those who have placed their trust in God, our everlasting rock. However strong and loving human support be, yet the strength and stability is in God alone. “Everyone then who hears these words of mine and acts on them will be like a wise man who built his house on rock.” (Mt.7:24). Just by calling upon God in prayer cannot make us to reach Heaven but doing the will of God and living the Word of God does. It is time to change our perspective and attitude towards the life-giving Word of God. Christ cannot be born in a heart full of doubts, and disobedience. May we trust the Lord one more time stronger than ever during this Advent. May God bless you and have a day full of hope and blessings.
